Aphrodite IX

Aphrodite IX is a beautiful synthetic humanoid, the latest in the Aphrodite series. She has been programmed and trained as an assassin, and after her missions, her memory is purged, so she is often confused about what she does and why. She doesn't really like assassination as it often causes her to question the ethics and reasoning behind her actions, so she tries to find answers. With some help from her friend, Burch, she finds a secret matriarchal society of cyborgs set on overthrowing the government. When she fits the rest of the pieces of the puzzle together, she is able to recall her adoptive father, Doctor Mane, and repents for the crimes of her past. Aphrodite IX overrides her programming, refuses to kill her next target, and instead goes after the cyborg matriarch whom has sent her on these assassination missions. When Aphrodite IX is upon the matriarch, the villain tells her that killing her and assuming her role as matriarch is Aphrodite IX's destiny, which causes Aphrodite IX to rethink her goal, and leave the villain ruling. In the series, IXth Generation (Top Cow, 2015 series), Aphrodite IX wakes in a post-apocalyptic world where the citizens are divided between genetically enhanced humans and cybernetically enhanced humans. As it turns out, she is one of the 'models' set to rule this future world. When the Darkness shows up, the Witchblade appears and bonds with Aphrodite IX, so she can defeat the Darkness and save her realm.
