Blue Beetle

Dr. Dan Garrett is an archaeologist who leads an expedition to the tomb of Kha-Ef-Re, an evil pharaoh buried 4,500 years earlier. He touchs a blue scarab resting on Kha-Ef-Re's sarcophagus, and suddenly has a vision. Dan is told that the sacred blue beetle is now his, to use against the forces of evil. He awakens from his dream, and utters a word from ancient Egypt... Kaji Dha! Dan is suddenly transformed into the mighty Blue Beetle. Dan Garrett is later critically injured by Jarvis Kord when he deliberately causes his robots to explode. Before he dies, Dan makes his friend, Ted Kord, promise to carry on with his mission. Ted agrees, but Dan is suddenly buried when the cave collapses. Unable to use the magic scarab, Ted uses technology to become the new Blue Beetle.
