D. Gavin Taylor led a religious sect called The First Church of Holy Prosperity (or Prosperity, for short). He came to power with help from Kenneth Irons, who took over his role in Prosperity when Taylor no longer made an impression on him. Taylor has mystical tattoos on his body which give him superhuman powers. He was approached by Grigorieff (from Ascension) about a particular stone of which he knew the whereabouts. He led Grigorieff and his henchmen to Kenneth Irons' house knowing that Irons had the stone and it was a part of the Witchblade. Once Grigorieff catches on to Taylor's plan and turns Dayaks into monsters, Taylor gets scared for his life. Enlisting the aid of Lucien Barnes (from Ascension), Taylor is able to return the stone to Irons, but Irons is already disenchanted with Taylor, and has replaced him at the head of Prosperity.
