Princess Raquel

In ancient Egypt, 1000 BC, Princess Raquel had been betrothed to Prince Sallah since her birth. Just before their wedding she caught him having an affair with the cat goddess Bastet. Desperate to stop her future husband from consorting with the goddess, she prayed to Anubis for help. Anubis led Raquel to a cave where she came upon the Witchblade, which bonded with her. Now that she had this additional power, she was able to trap Bastet in a cat statuette. Unfortunately, Sallah, who had been granted immortality by Bastet and become enraged with Raquel's acts, killed her and hid the statuette away until he could free his love. 3,000 years later this would come to pass and Sallah would swear revenge on the Witchblade despite the Witchblade Bearer being Sara Pezzini rather than Raquel.
