Little is known about the origin of Kodiak Noatak, or his recruitment into the Marauders as Harpoon. He is an Inuit mutant who has the power of longitudinal object conversion, which means that he can change a longitudinal object into various forms of bio-energy, the amount varying with the size of the object, and when he throws the object it becomes energy. He is able to charge objects rather than transform them, and the type of energy he uses can alter the effect the weapon has on his opponent. Effects can include stun, shock, paralysis, death, explosion, or disintegration of a living or inanimate target. Harpoon is exceptionally skilled with spears and other projectile weapons, but his powers do have a weakness: a being with a particularly tough hide (like, for instance, Colossus) can withstand his attacks.
