Following the death of his twin, Andrea von Strucker, Baron Zemo has Zebediah Killgrave use mind control to brainwash Andreas von Strucker into taking on the name, 'Swordsman,' training with him, and joining the Thunderbolts. The Purple Man incorporates a piece of leather made from the flayed skin of his deceased twin sister into the hilt of his sword to keep their shared power intact in his weapon. Despite his questionable alliance with the Thunderbolts while under Killgrave's influence, von Strucker stayed with the team for some time though his motivations for doing so are not always benevolent.
