Anthony "Tony" Woodward acquired his powers when he was thrown into a vat of molten steel containing metal scraps from S.T.A.R. Labs experiments following an incident at his work (a steel-working plant) in which he assaulted a female co-worker. Tony's body turned into liquid metal, granting him superhuman strength, stamina, and durability.
