On sait que son père, originaire de Tintagel dans les Cornouailles, était marin dans la Royal Navy (dont il gardera la nationalité britannique) et que sa mère était une gitane, originaire de Séville, danseuse de flamenco et fameuse sorcière, célèbre sous le nom de « Niña de Gibraltar ».
