Marco Esperanza is a 23-year-old Spanish man who, in the 1500s, finds himself aboard the feared Black Galleon - a vessel crewed by vampire pirates - after he is pulled from the water where he had been clinging to a single wooden board for his life. The vampires turn Marco, and he is forced to join their ranks. Hundreds of years later, Marco is pulled from the ocean again, where he was found tied to the mast of a sunken ship, managing to survive on the sour blood of fish. The submarine is crewed by a team of filmmakers, including Joel, Ian, and Janine, scouting locations for their next film. Taking a couple of them with him, Marco leaves the submarine, and proceeds on his travels.
