Daniel Kidd was born August 18th 1805. When he was still an infant, Daniel and his parents were traveling in a wagon, when they were suddenly engulfed by a stampede of buffalo. Later that day, a Cheyenne warrior, Tall Hawk, heard the cries of the orphaned baby and discovered the tragic scene. He picked up the child, as well as a journal which he thought may one day be of interest. Tall Hawk decided to raise the boy with his wife, Running Fawn, and named him The Little Chief. When he was 19 years old, Little Chief met two white men who discovered his true identity from the old journal. Tall Hawk agreed to allow the white men to take Little Chief with them so he could live among his own people. Since that day, Little Chief became known as The Cheyenne Kid.
