Bruce Wayne's older brother, Thomas Jr., suffered permanent brain damage when he was struck by a car as a young child. Because he was a danger to himself and society, his parents had him committed to Willowood Asylum. Bruce only learned that he had a brother years later, when Thomas escaped from Willowood and became The Boomerang Killer.
