While the circumstances of her death are unchronicled, Nita Crane is a woman resurrected by the Lord of Life in order to serve as his pawn. Crane and the Lord of Life's other minions were held in check due to needing treatment from the Lord of Life's life-ray once per month to prevent them from dying again. Crane was able to break free long enough to warn Dr. Occult of the danger posed by Lord of Life. After defeating the Lord of Life, Occult administered an antidote, freeing Crane and the Lord of Life's other minions from their dependency upon the life-ray.
