Uncle Elmo and John Hardy are two characters featured in numerous short stories that serve as backup content in the Popeye comic book series. However, these characters are not connected to Popeye himself or any other creations by Segar. In the stories, Uncle Elmo would share extraordinary tales with his nephew John Hardy, recounting his incredible adventures, bizarre discoveries, or remarkable inventions. John, in turn, would often point out the more questionable or implausible aspects of his uncle’s anecdotes.
