Mophir

Mophir was the seer of the native people of Diablo Island. When Dr. Bruce Gordon attempted to photograph a solar eclipse from a plateau on the island, Mophir lunged at him with a dagger, while holding a black diamond in his other hand. The momentum of his charge carried Mophir over the edge to his death, but not before he scratched Gordon with the diamond. The natives, grateful to be free of Mophir's tyranny, gave Gordon Mophir's costume and black diamond. Gordon would soon learn that he was now cursed to become the evil Eclipso whenever he is exposed to an eclipse.
