Robert Anthony Eden, 1st Earl of Avon (born 1897-06-12, died 1977-01-14), was a British politician and military officer who served as foreign secretary during most of World War II and as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1955 until his resignation in 1957.
