Lyndon B. Johnson was an America politician who served as President of the United States from 1963 to 1969. Johnson assumed the office after the death of President John F. Kennedy, under whom Johnson served as vice president beginning in 1961. Johnson also was a member of the United States Congress from 1937 to 1961, as both a Representative (1937 to 1949) and a Senator (1949 to 1961).
