Rob Liefeld

Rob Liefeld is an American comic book creator. A prominent writer and artist in the 1990s, he is known for co-creating the character [Cable](app://character/39701) with writer [Louise Simonson](app://creator/8405) and the character [Deadpool](app://character/6402) with writer [Fabian Nicieza](app://creator/4218). In the early 1990s, Liefeld gained popularity due to his work on Marvel's [The New Mutants](app://series/2755) and later [X-Force](app://series/4253). In 1992, he and several other popular Marvel illustrators left the company to found Image which started a wave of comic series owned by their creators rather than by publishers. The first book published by Image was Liefeld's [Youngblood #1 (April 1992)](app://issue/217231). In 1996, Liefeld re-envisioned Marvel's [Captain America](app://series/5542) for six issues. In 1997 Liefeld moved all his publishing ventures into a new company, Awesome, where he hired comic book writer [Alan Moore](app://creator/9) to revive many of Liefeld's creations. In July 2007, Rob Liefeld returned to Image after years of self-publication. In 2010, Liefeld became the regular artist on [Deadpool Corps](app://series/46836), providing interior art for the first nine issues. As part of The New 52, Liefeld returned to [Hawk & Dove](app://series/60836), the characters that helped establish him in the industry.
