Bill Devine

Started collecting comics at the age of 15 during the spring of 1966. Built a large collection and began selling comics in 1969 with ads in the RB-CC, attending conventions in New York City, Boston and San Diego, as well as mailing catalogs and price lists. Attended the Art Institute of Boston, studying graphic arts, illustration and photography. Pursued a career in commercial art, working for newspapers, agencies and business accounts (1970s/1980s). Comics publishing ventures included Ace of Spades (1973) and Blazing Violence (1975-76 with Larry Blamire's Predator). Created the Sully McStew character and feature. Worked at New England Comics Press (1989-1995) performed various editorial, production, sales and customer service positions. Produced all content for two reprint titles, My Terrible Romance and Buried terror during 1994-1995. Scripted one issue of The Tick Karma Tornado (#9). Developed an interest in researching comics, creating art and story indexes, compiled lists and contributions to the Overstreet Price Guide (1970s). Have been indexing at GCD since 2011. Created Devine's Guide to Men's Adventure Magazines in 1998 and have been working on a Guide to Parliament Publications.
