Ruth Plumly Thompson was best known as a children's author, specifically as the writer who continued the Oz series of books after their creator, L. Frank Baum, died. Thompson worked in comic books for David McKay under her name and the pen name of Jo King. She worked in support as an editor from about 1937 to about 1947 for the King Comics title under Jo King. As Thompson, she wrote text stories of Sis Sez, Her Highness of Whyness and King Kojo, The Wizard of Way-Up, the Pet Post feature, and a number of fiction text stories from about 1936 to about 1943.
