Steve Epting

Steve Epting is an American comics artist. He started at First with backup stories for [Nexus](app://series/3108), guest-artist duties on [Dreadstar](app://series/3262) and [Whisper](app://series/3266), and two miniseries starring Nexus supporting character Judah Maccabee: [Hammer of God](app://series/16094) and [Hammer of God: Sword of Justice](app://series/16095). After First had gone out of business, he found work at Marvel. He became the full-time penciler for three years on [The Avengers](app://series/1571) from issue #341 (November 1991). Afterwards, Epting spent the next few years working on Marvel's franchise of X-Men titles including the [Age of Apocalypse](app://arc/26) crossover and [Factor-X](app://series/5281), the alternate timeline counterparts of X-Factor. He had a run on [X-Factor](app://series/3209), but mostly concentrated on annuals, specials, and mini-series. In 1999, Epting moved to DC. He was the main artist on the [Superman](app://series/3386) series as well as on [Aquaman](app://series/4940), where he was teamed up with writer [Dan Jurgens](app://creator/2733). Most of his work during the early 2000s was for the independent comics publisher, CrossGen. Epting drew issues #1–25 of [Crux](app://series/9964), a fantasy-adventure book co-created with writer [Mark Waid](app://creator/8883). In 2004, Epting returned to Marvel. He teamed with writer [Ed Brubaker](app://creator/3720) to relaunch [Captain America](app://series/12466). The creative team later collaborated on [The Marvels Project](app://series/38945). In November 2010, Epting began as the artist on [Fantastic Four](app://series/11218) and was the artist on [FF](app://series/56740). In 2013 Epting and Ed Brubaker launched the an espionage series [Velvet](app://series/77206). With author [Garth Ennis](app://creator/4614) he created [Sara](app://series/159338). He drew the [Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen](app://series/153645).
