René Leisink

Leisink started out to be a teacher and attended the Lerarenopleiding Tekenen and the PABO. After his graduation, he and a few other former editors for [De Stripper](app://series/81863) fanzine banded together to form Studio Noodweer. His first professional publication was Paul Flekx for the free daily newspaper [Metro](app://series/83971). He later added a second feature to Metro, called Ted and a strip for competing newspaper [Sp!ts [Spits]](app://series/83972), called Distelhof. In 2003, he published his first album, [Waterproef #[nn] (2003)](app://issue/1723353) with fellow Noodweer creator [Michiel van de Vijver](app://creator/14438). He created various strips for commercial companies and charities, such as 'Fons en Fiona de Koning' for Horeca Nederland and 'Sam en Simone' in Unicef's magazine Kids United. He also writes the noir crime horror series Amorfati that is pre-published in [Eppo Stripblad](app://series/33603) and then collected in albums (2013-present). His greatest achievement to date, however, is probably the daily cartoon Argus, which has become a sort of pseudonym. Initially published locally and online, Argus has become widely known through appearing daily in various newspapers, such as [De Pers](app://series/83987) (2007-2012) and [Metro](app://series/83971) (2012-2020). Several collections of these cartoons have been published annually 2003-2020.
