Waldo Van Gheluwe

Van Gheluwe, son of expressionist painter Stefaan Van Gheluwe (1906-1963) is self-taught. He was first published in the early 1980s in [Magnum #33 (1982)](app://issue/1771387). Failing to find a larger audience, Van Gheluwe stopped doing comics altogether and turned to painting. In 2007 he returned to comics, where he has since become quite prolific. At a rate of an album a year, he has produced [De overlevenden van Kish](app://series/80207), [Eridu](app://series/80208), [De Schim](app://series/106247) (with writer [Filip Hellemans](app://creator/62709)) and short stories for the western character Viking Cowboy (with writer [Ramon Schenk](app://creator/14033) in western anthology [Sheriff Classics](app://series/58771).
