Cosey
- Born 1950-06-14
Cosey is a Swiss comic artist. After completing an apprenticeship as a graphic artist from 1965 to 1969, Cosey became Derib's assistant in 1970 and colored various albums for him. From 1970, he published his first humorous comics for the Belgian newspaper Le soir with Monfreyd et Tilbury (scenario by André-Paul Duchâteau). He began his multi-volume adventure series Jonathan in 1975. The comic character Jonathan is a European dropout who travels through the Himalayan region, especially Tibet. It has autobiographical traits: “I am the shadow of Jonathan, his darker, less brilliant side.” In this series, he combines his excellent drawing skills with literary material. After an 11-year hiatus, Cosey published albums from this series again from 1997 to 2021. Since 1985, Cosey has mainly been drawing graphic novels with changing main characters. What they have in common is that they embark on external and internal journeys.
