Robert Kraus

Robert Kraus won a cartoon contest hosted by the Milwaukee Journal at the age of ten. He went on to freelance for various magazines, including Collier's, Life, and The Saturday Evening Post. More than 400 of his cartoons appeared in The New Yorker and he drew 21 covers for the magazine. He also wrote, illustrated, and edited more than 100 children's books and was president and founder of children's book publisher Windmill Books. A selection of his work, largely New Yorker cartoons, is archived at the Syracuse University Libraries Special Collections Research Center.
