Jesús Balbi

Balbi is mentioned as a protege of Alberto Breccia at the Pan-American School of Art in the 1960s, along with Rubén Sosa, Leopoldo Durañona, José Muñoz and Jorge Moliterni. He was one of the many cartoonists who succeeded Hugo Pratt in drawing Ernie Pike (1957). Balbi worked at Frontera, Record, Columba and Cielo Sur publishing houses, according to one source. José Massaroli states that around 1986, he was Balbi's partner in the animation studio Jaime Díaz, and they worked together on a series called Wildfire for the U. S. market. He was reputed to be "Breccia's best student" and he collaborated with Lito Fernández in a chapter of Precinct 56 (1974).
