Sharon Smith Kane

Pioneering cartoonist and children's book illustrator. Creator of the newspaper cartoon Buttons an’ Beaux, begun while she was in high school. The series grew to a circulation of twenty-five newspapers before she retired it. She later became a prolific children's book author including the book Little Mommy which has been in print since 1967. A collection of her cartoons was donated to the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco in 2018.
