Richard Van Camp

Through his maternal heritage, Van Camp is Tłı̨chǫ (aka Tlicho or Dogrib), a Dene First Nations people of the Athabaskan-speaking ethnolinguistic group living in the Northwest Territories of Canada. When he was 24, Van Camp's novel *The Lesser Blessed* was published by Douglas & McIntyre in 1996. He is considered the first Tłı̨chǫ writer to publish a novel.
