Jim Fletcher

Fletcher started work at Disney in 1954, straight out of the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked on the three good fairies in Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty and later worked with Ward Kimball. He was laid off in a 1958 shakeup, a few months after being promoted to animator. During the first half of the 1960s, he drew comics for Hanna-Barbera and Disney properties for Western. From 1963 to 1968 he worked with Disney Studios for international publication. He created Melodia Mouse, the European prototype for Minnie Mouse's nieces. Fletcher was an animator with Warner Bros. from 1958 to 1964 and lay-out artist for Hanna-Barbera from 1968 to 1974. He worked for other studios such as Filmation, UPA, Format and Hyperion. In the 1980s he drew for Heavy Metal (1990), Eternity and Archie (1992), and became storyboard artist for Hanna-Barbera, Marvel (Transformers and GI Joe), Hyperion and Disney TV.
