Joe Gill was an American comic book writer who, though often uncredited, has been called one of the most prolific writers in comic book history. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Gill began working for publishers including Timely and Fawcett in the 1940s. His best known work, however, came during a decades-long tenure as a primary writer with Charlton from the 1950s through the 1980s. At Charlton, he wrote stories in a wide array of genres such as war, horror, westerns and romance. He also cocreated superheroes including Captain Atom with artist [Steve Ditko](app://creator/19) in 1960 and Peacemaker with artist [Pat Boyette](app://creator/10126) in 1964, and revived the Golden Age hero Blue Beetle in 1964.
