Joye Hummel

Joye Hummel (later Joye Murchison Kelly), a former student of Wonder Woman creator [William Marston](app://creator/13758), ghost-wrote a number of "Wonder Woman" stories between 1944 and 1947. She was 19 years old when she began, initially transcribing Marston's dictated story ideas. When Marston became terminally ill, Hummel gradually took over. Her first stories appeared in [Wonder Woman #12 (Spring 1945)](app://issue/4287). Hummel was the first woman to write stories for Wonder Woman. At the time, she did not receive any recognition. She retired shortly after Marston's death and married David W. Murchison. She later married Jack Kelly.
