George B. Bridgman

  • Born 1864-11-05 · Died 1943-12-16

Bridgman was a prominent Canadian American artistic anatomy instructor, with a four decade tenure at The Art Students League of New York and authorship of several influential books on the same subject, with some of them still in print after 100 years. He studied in both France and the United States, and many of his own students went on to success, including some listed here at the Grand Comics Database such as Norman Rockwell, Neysa McMein, and Will Eisner; the internationally famous modern artists Arshile Gorky and Jackson Pollock were also among his students.
