Martin Emond
- Born 1969-06-01 · Died 2004-03-14
Martin Emond, also known under the pen names "Martin Fuckin Emond," "Martyfuck" and "MFE," was a New Zealand cartoon illustrator and painter. Emond found success early in his career illustrating Gordon Rennie's [White Trash](app://series/47374), which led to other high-profile cartoon work including designing album covers for Glenn Danzig. Later, he created memorable characters such as the irreverent streetkid Switchblade and the girl gang Rolling Red Knuckles. Many of his illustrations were also produced extensively as screenprints on clothing for the popular New Zealand streetwear label Illicit. Emond's work is said to be reminiscent of rock and roll tattoos and classic sign art, and is characterised by darkly sardonic humour. Emond died by suicide in 2004.
