Synopsis
After her mother's death, Betty goes to the small Caribbean state of Meridia where her uncle is tasked with building a railroad across the country. Betty meets Lewis Dane and is attracted to him, but his father vows that the railroad will never be built across his land. When her uncle is incapacitated, first by illness, then by an attack from bandits on Dane's land, Betty takes over to ensure the project is completed.
