Synopsis
Martha and Rickey are engaged, but he enlists in the Army and is later reported missing in action. Time passes and Martha weds John, but one day Rickey shows up. He’d been a prisoner of war and was just released. Rickey urges Martha to divorce John and marry him, and she agrees. However, when she goes home to pack, Martha realises she and John have had a happy marriage, and her love for Rickey was “without depth.” She sends Rickey a note saying she won’t go away with him.
