Synopsis
Edward and Doris meet at a party and have a magical evening. When Edward drops her off at the hotel, he tells her he will call her the next day. But when he calls he discovers no one with her name was registered at the hotel. He checks with the doorman who worked the night he dropped Doris off. The doorman remembers her walking off away from the hotel when he noticed a hoop ear-ring on the ground. They had put up a notice about it in the hotel, but no one had claimed it. Months pass before Edward finally gets a break when he reads about the arrest of Lady Pamela Hart.
