Synopsis

Terry, a twelve-and-a-half-year-old girl, prepares for a party in a new dress, but her indifference to her appearance frustrates her mother. Despite her mother's encouragement to admire herself in the mirror, Terry focuses on finding a lost hockey puck in the closet. When her escort, Chester, arrives, he seems unhappy, and their awkward interaction reveals that neither enjoys the other's company. After the party, Terry tells her mother she chose Chester to avoid asking her friend Joe, knowing Chester would feel obligated to attend, highlighting her cleverness and disdain for social norms.
