Synopsis
Veronica is suspicious of a young teen ostensibly collecting for charity. She has no sympathy when the girl is injured, and provokes the police to investigate. When she discovers that the family is in desperate straits, with the girl providing all their support, she takes the family under her wing and arranges a job for the girl.
