Synopsis
Louise loves Tommy but her parents think the difference in their socio-economic status would doom any marriage. Louise’s grandmother tells a story of a young woman named Mary who fell in love with wealthy Jonathan in the early years of the century. Jonathan’s father convinces Mary that she would ruin Jonathan’s social standing—and thus, his business career—if they wed, so Mary leaves. Later, they reconcile and marry. Louise’s parents think the story is fiction, but grandmother says it is the story of her marriage. They decide to give Tommy a chance.
