Synopsis

Office worker Laura is dumped by her boyfriend Alan because she’s a poor orphan. Laura gets a job in rural Long Island as companion to elderly Miss Barnes. Miss Barnes urges Laura not to shut herself away, giving herself as an example of a lonely spinster. Laura poses for neighboring artist Tony and they fall in love. Tony tries to break up with her because he’s going blind from an old war injury, but Laura says their love can overcome this obstacle.
