Synopsis

After her parents’ deaths, Arlene lives with her rich grandfather, who complains that she “squander[s] money and run[s] about wildly.” He also adopts Beth, an orphan. After the older man’s death, Arlene and her fiancé Don arrive at the house: Arlene is stunned to learn her grandfather’s fortune has been left to Beth. Beth is distraught and Arlene pretends to help her, all the while scheming to steal the money. In the end, Beth and Don fall in love, and Arlene doesn’t get a cent.
