Synopsis

Mr. Lasch runs a sweatshop for seamstresses. He forces his workers to use dangerously decrepit machinery, and when something breaks, he takes it out of their salaries. Finally, he forces a old woman to the brain-numbing job of sorting out tangles of needles and thread, despite the fact her sewing machine just shattered, breaking her hand. This is just too much, and his employees get their revenge. When a fire breaks out in the shop, Mr. Lasch can't get out. His lips and hands have been sewn together, and his feet have been hobbled.
