Synopsis
In 1993, Hunter Gorinson discovered the power of comics at the Barbarian Bookstore via a reprinted issue of Vault of Horror. Illustrated by Johnny Craig, these stories blended visceral dread with dark humor in familiar settings. This fascination led him to explore EC Comics' history, revealing its impact on American culture and the Comics Code Authority's censorship in 1955. Reflecting on EC's legacy and its influence on filmmakers, Gorinson introduces "Epitaphs from the Abyss," a project aimed at reviving EC's spirit for modern readers, embracing horror and societal anxieties.
