Synopsis

Waitress Mitzi agrees to marry book salesman Steven if and when he gets a promotion; she doesn't love him, but he can help support her invalid aunt. She also becomes engaged to medical student Fred, but will marry him only after he opens his own practice. The two men meet each other and fight, which causes Aunt Hilda to have a heart attack and die. Mitzi confesses her scheme and admits she doesn't love either Fred or Steven. She's left all alone.
