Synopsis

Axel, a former Marvel Editor-in-Chief, reflects on how critics from across the political spectrum often judge projects involving race and culture before they even debut. He cites the backlash to Truth: Red, White & Black and the Hip-Hop variant covers as examples of "preconceptions cemented into judgment." He notes that Sheldon Allen’s They Choose Violence subverts similar expectations. Rather than a formulaic revenge saga, it is a complex thriller about a female vigilante squad facing the grim, unintended consequences of escalation and racial violence.
