Cover code: 90058-113. No cover date appears on cover or in indicia. Publication date is traditionally derived from the last three digits of the cover code - but, in the case of 90058-113, the 113 would translate to a thirteenth month of 1981.

Adding to the confusion is that the previous issue (#339) has a cover code of 90058-202 with the publication date being derived from the last three digits of the cover code as follows: (202 = February, 1982). This results in a 1982 issue (#339) being released before a 1981 issue (#340).

The issue code, normally appearing in the bottom tier of page one and which would indicate the on sale date (month and year), is absent from this issue and replaced with a repetition of the cover code (90058-113), making the once-reliable Western system of interpreting cover code and issue code as a method of determining publication date and on sale date effectively useless.

This situation applies to several different Whitman titles of the time and is most likely due to the increasingly irregular release schedule of the Whitman bagged comics.
