Synopsis

Anne wants to become a Hollywood star, but winds up a hat-check girl in a “second-rate nightclub.” She and Freddie fall in love. Anne agrees to “hold” some packages at the club for Tony, using the extra money she receives to help Freddie’s song-writing career. Freddie borrows money from Anne then leaves her for another woman. Hoping to keep Freddie, Anne skims money from Tony’s business (he’s a fence) but is caught. After a brawl brings the police, Anne is arrested and sent to prison for 6 months.
