Madeleine meets Jim at the country club; he is a former college athlete who makes his living playing tennis with rich members. They fall in love but she refuses to marry him because he is conceited and has no ambition. Sportscaster Conte suggests Jim will never grow up until he’s defeated on the court and faces reality.
