Synopsis

Dorothy is the vocalist with a local pop group who call themselves the High Cs. On the night of their professional debut, she misses the bus in the pouring rain and is fortunate to be offered a ride by a man who says he is going to the theatre himself. Her group is successful, but her attention is on the man who gave her a ride. He is a ventriloquist performing the next act. This begins a love-hate relationship between them as she can't stop thinking about him, but sometimes finds references in his routines too personal.
