Synopsis

Irene, jealous that her older sister Ruth is engaged, steals her fiancé Fred. They elope but a disoriented Irene falls out of a window the next morning and cannot walk. She regrets her decision to wed, and when Ruth starts dating George, Irene tries to conquer him as well. George berates her and says Irene must “bear the burden” of her actions and make Fred a good wife. Irene promises Fred she will strive to recover from her injuries and learn to love him.
