Synopsis
Korkis talks about Robert Sidney Smith, the creator of Sherlock Holmes Jr. giving a brief biography of his early life and career. Then he covers when, in 1922, Smith became the first cartoonist getting a 10-year one million dollar contract ($100,00 per year) for his work on The Gumps with the Chicago Tribune along with the gift of a new Rolls Royce automobile and an oriental rug for his office. Korkis mentions that Sherlock Holmes Jr. was a footnote in Smith's career and that he died in an automobile accident on October 20, 1935.

All comic strip reprints are printed oblong. The original comic strips were in color but since they were reprinted in black and white, the colors become shades of grey. The darker colors become blacks causing the lost of art visibility with some of the comic strips.
